Along with the release of the iOS 6 beta version, soon many rumors started to appear. In the first place, the respective version was designed for developer use only and common users should not update. It was meant to show a small part of what was about to come and it offered enough time for developers to prepare their products for the update. Even though iOS 6 brings many new features and changes, some of them inspired by Cydia, users still fell the need to jailbreak their devices. Now, with the official release of iOS 6, everybody hardly waits a jailbreak tool to start jailbreak 6.
As we expected, the Dev Team gave us the surprise we all expected. Redsn0w was updated and it performs tethered jailbreak on A4-based iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4th generation only.
If you want upgrade to iOS 6 and start the jailbreak process, you should back up your information in order to keep it all safe in the cloud. You do not know what might happen during the process and since we are talking about a major change, there is nothing wrong to keep your device safe.
Therefore, here are some simple steps in order to jailbreak your iOS 6 running device:
Step 1: Download iOS 6 and upgrade your device. It is a simple process and it will take only several minutes.
Step 2: Download Redsnow 0.9.13dev4 for iOS 6.0.
Step 3: Extract all files in a special folder on your computer. In this way, you will have all you need right at hand.
Step 4: Find the Redsn0w file and launch the application. In order to make this work, you need to run the whole task in the administrator mode.
Step 5: In the small window that appears, you need to select the Extras option and click on the IPSW file.
Step 6: This step is the last one in this process and it is related the jailbreak itself. After you click back, you will see the Jailbreak option. Select it and follow the steps suggested by the program. Sometimes, you need to put your device in the DFU mode. The program will guide you how to do this.
This is all. Now, you have a jailbroken device. Remember that Redsnow performs only tethered jailbreak on your device. Each time you shut down your device, you need to redo some actions. It will be much easier once you learned how to do it. Another important thing is the fact that this version of jailbreak does not install Cydia automatically. I know that this is terrible news for some of you, but all we have to do is to wait for the untethered jailbreak to be released.
