Recently, Apple developers tried to fix some error and bugs with their iOS and they released an improved version of the iOS 5.1.1. The new firmware does not bring that many changes and in the same time, it does not maintain the baseband. This is something to be discussed especially for those of you who want to downgrade or to jailbreak the new iOS. In order to downgrade the operating system anytime you want, you need to save the SHSH also called the blobs. SHSH is Apple’s signatures that control manual downgrades of iOS on each one of their devices. In this way, whenever you want to upgrade and jailbreak your iOS, you will have all signatures saved. For some reason or another, Apple refused to sign the firmware and thus it does not allow manual downgrades on iPhone, iPads or iPods.
Initially, it was possible to downgrade iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touch 3G and iPod touch 4G from iOS 5.1 to iOS 5.0.1. Since iOS 5.1.1 was recently released, most users already upgraded their devices. On the other hand, TinyUmbrella developers announced the release of a new version of the software, which brings support for iOS 5.1.1 build 9B208. This means that if you already upgraded to iOS 5.1.1, the new firmware, you are able to save SHSH with TinyUmbrella. This is just in the case that you want to downgrade to a previous version of iOS.
TinyUmbrella is a simple software. It is easy to use it. Follow our step-by-step guide posted here on how to save SHSH blobs with TinyUmbrella software.
1. You need to download it on your computer and start the installation process.
2. After you have TinyUmbrella on your computer, plug in your device and launch the application.
3. Then, choose Save SHSH and everything is done.
Now, you have your device saved. You can see the SHSH saved in the General tab. I want to mention that is not necessary to save your SHSH blobs. For those of you who do not plan to downgrade any time soon, this is not necessary. However, SHSH blobs are the only way to trick the security system and downgrade anytime you want.
